My friend has a percolator that always leaks (she’s replaced the gasket). Any suggestions?

I cleaned it out and oiled the threads when I lived with her and this worked. She says that technique works for her only 50% of the time. Is there any high temperature plumber’s tape (or something like that) to keep this thing from leaking? Or any other suggestions?
