I use bottled water for my coffee. I have read of what all contaminants can be in our water, even if it’s a low amount. Yuck! I had to throw away 2 coffee pots because they got so full of Calcium and junk.
Its okay for tap water. I had to throw my coffee makers away also as I never cleaned them without running water and vinegar thru them about once a week. 50% water 50% vinegar solution. It should help your coffee maker last longer.
Tap water is O.K. for your coffee pot if you have well water or if you have naturally soft water. But not all water contains a high amount of minerals.
I use a Brita water filter to filter my water and I find this helpful and makes my coffee taste better as well because I’m not tasting all the chlorine. It also filters out most of the lead and other unhealthy things in tap water just from going through the pipes.
This is cheaper to use then bottled water for your coffee maker as a Brita filter can last for two or three months.
Cleaning out the coffee maker with water and some vinegar helps get rid of the deposits.
Hope this is helpful,

Tap water, filtered through a Brita or PuR, is actually better for coffee and tea than bottled water. The impurities actually help extract the flavors better.
Regular cleaning (once a week or once a month) will help keep your coffee maker working a lot longer.
The stuff in the link is very efficient in cleaning. I use it in my espresso machine (way more finicky than regular coffee machine if dirty).
Hello,
I would not suggest using tap water unless of course your water is exceptionally good. Otherwise, using bottled water is a much better and wiser idea. I also use bottled water to make my coffee
